• SCC/MLA maintains a current database of personal information for its members.  The information contained in this database is used to track current and former membership in the chapter, to produce distribution lists for SCC/MLA publications (e.g., South Central Connection, Membership Directory, etc.) and promotional materials (e.g., pre-registration packets for the annual meeting, etc.), and to contact you for any other SCC/MLA-related business (e.g., surveys, election ballots, etc.). 
• Occasionally, SCC/MLA receives requests for contact information from the Medical Library Association or any of its sections, chapters, or other entities as well as from other library-related organizations.  These requests may be for general information or membership recruitment efforts or for promotional or customized services.  The SCC/MLA Executive Board reviews – and approves, if warranted – all such requests.  All individuals may opt-out of receiving promotional or customized services at any time.
• SCC/MLA collects the domain names, not the email addresses, of visitors to its Web site.  This information is aggregated to measure the number of visits, average time spent on the site, pages viewed, etc.  SCC/MLA uses this information to measure the use of our site and to improve the content for members.
• Information collected from the Web site and any personal information maintained in databases are not made available to any other entity except as required by law.

Members-Only Access

A “Members Only” section is available from the SCC/MLA Web site, and a password is required to access content that is deemed a “benefit” to membership in the SCC/MLA.  The password changes annually and is distributed to the current membership with the Membership Directory and the South Central Connection.

Other SCC/MLA members can access contact information about you through the “Members Only” section.  Vendor representatives who hold membership in SCC/MLA are not authorized to use your contact information on the SCC Web site for marketing purposes.  Members are not authorized to use contact information to “spam” other members.

Collecting Information

When we collect information from you, we try to let you know at the time of collection how we will use the information.  Usually, the information we collect is used in aggregate, or internally to respond to inquiries, collect confidential survey data, or to allow you to access specific member information.

Links to Other Web Sites

The SCC/MLA Web site contains links to Web sites maintained outside of SCC/MLA.  We hope these sites share our high standards and respect for privacy; however, the SCC/MLA is not responsible for the content or the privacy practices employed by other sites.
