Librarian of the Year Award

The Librarian of the Year Award is presented to an SCC/MLA member for outstanding contributions in health sciences librarianship. The purpose of the award is to celebrate expertise and creativity in the provision of library service. This award is intended to be an annual award, but will be presented only when merited. A plaque and paid SCC/MLA annual meeting registration (excluding CE) will be awarded to the recipient.

Criteria used to determine the recipients of the award include but are not limited to:

  • Leadership in the profession
  • Scholarship/publications/research
  • Teaching/training/mentoring
  • Professional activities
  • Service to the health profession
  • Development of special projects

The nominees' achievements in the areas described above must have occurred within the last 2-3 years, culminating within the last 12 months.

Guidelines:

  •  Nominations may be submitted by any SCC/MLA member.
  •  Self-nomination is permissible.
  •  Any librarian nominated for the award must be a current member of SCC/MLA.
